Environmental fees

The collection of extra-budgetary revenues based on the “polluter pays” principle in accordance with the acts and regulations in force, provides for the co-financing of environmental protection and energy efficiency programmes and projects, which are aimed at preventing further pollution of the environment, remediation of existing pollution problems and sustainable use of natural resources, as well as organising the system for the management of special waste categories.

The financial resources used for the co-financing of environmental protection and energy efficiency programmes and projects, which are aimed at preventing further pollution of the environment, remediation of existing pollution problems and sustainable use of natural resources, as well as organising the system for the management of special waste categories, are secured from appropriations of the Fund.

At the request of the payer and in accordance with Article 140 of the General Administrative Procedure Act and the Conclusion of the Management Board of the Fund, the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund may stay the execution of the decision of the Fund for no longer than six months.

Based on bad debt that cannot be collected notwithstanding enforcement, the Fund may write off the debt in accordance with the provision of Article 137 of the General Tax Act.

The terms and conditions and the method of approving the stay of execution of the decision on fee payment and the conditions for writing off due debts can be found in the attached Instruction.

The Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund, pursuant to Article 29 of the Civil Obligations Act (Official Gazette 35/05, 41/08 and 125/11), shall calculate the statutory default interest on late payment.
