The articles of association have been signed today in Šibenik between the limited liability company Batižele d.o.o. founded by the Town of Šibenik, the Republic of Croatia, the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund, and the Croatian water management company Hrvatske vode, creating the basis for a capital injection in the company, and future implementation of the project on the land owned by the former TEF(electrodes and ferrous alloy factory).
The equity of the company BATIŽELE d.o.o., ŠIBENIK has been increased from HRK 148.500,000 to HRK 296,615,600.
The share in equity is distributed as follows: the share of the Town of Šibenik is HRK 201,540,600 (67.94%), the Republic of Croatia has the share of HRK 67,154,500 (22.64%), the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund has HRK 25.852.700 (8.72%), and Hrvatske vode HRK 2,067,800.00 (0.70%).
"The implementation of the project Batižele is of the utmost importance for the development of Šibenik, so this project is also endorsed by the Government of the Republic of Croatia and the Management Board of the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund. When I was appointed to the position of director of the Fund two months ago, I immediately started talks with mayor Burić and his associates to agree the signing of the articles of association, and we have managed arrange everything in a relatively short period of time. Even though there have been some media speculations, I want to emphasise there have been no obstructions whatsoever form the Fund regarding Batižele. On the contrary, without the financial assistance, the loans worth around 26 million kunas that the Fund granted to TEF to remediate the polluted soil, it is unlikely this project would have even been launched. So, in the spirit of good and long cooperation, we will continue all activities to help the town authorities achieve full development potential of Batižele because this area is highly important for the future development of Šibenik, which has truly become the cultural and touristic gem of the Mediterranean,” said Siniša Kukić, the director of the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund.
Mayor Željko Burić thanked the director of the Fund on their cooperation and efforts in concluding the articles of association. "Now we have to prepare the conditions for inviting an international tender that will comply with the State Property Management Act. The Committee consisting of 5 members will be responsible for the preparation and implementation of the tender, with three members being nominated by the Town of Šibenik, and two by the Ministry of State Property,” said the mayor of Šibenik, Željko Burić.
The issue of the land owned by TEF has been a years-long problem of all Šibenik authorities, and the project Batižele covers more than 200 hundred thousand square meters that are free of debt, while the claims of the State have been translated to shares. The area of the former factory is planned to have a mixed purpose, where the investors will build a new neighbourhood with residential, commercial, cultural and education capacities; new catering and tourist accommodation capacities with two thousand beds have also been planned.
