05.02.2019.

Minister of Environment and Energy Tomislav Ćorić, Director of the Fund Dubravko Ponoš and the mayor of Đakovo Marin Mandarić signed the Agreement on co-financing the construction of the recycling yard Vitika. The investment is worth 3.7 million kuna, with 85%, i.e. around HRK 3 million, being secured from the European Cohesion Fund.

Minister Ćorić pointed out that the Republic of Croatia set a very ambitious plan concerning the establishment of the waste management system, in which recycling yards have a very important role. As Mr. Ponoš explained, in order to successfully implement the project of separate waste collection, it is very important that line ministry, the units of local self-government and the citizens work in synergy. Mr. Ponoš pointed out the importance of education of the citizens because without responsible individuals who will take the sorted waste to the recycling yards, these facilities will lose their purpose.

“The construction of the recycling yard in the heart of Đakovo is in its final phase, and until the autumn, Vitika will be finished as well, and it will enable the citizens to dispose of their waste and the items they no longer use in these facilities”, said mayor Mandarić.
