“Before the summer, the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund supplied the containers for separate waste collection, now we are expecting the delivery of 17 000 containers for plastics and paper that we will distribute to the households, and our goal is to purchase utility vehicles suitable for this type of waste collection,” said Milan Laković, pointing out all of that would contribute to further improving the quality of service.
The director of the Fund singled out the Town of Poreč, as well as the entire Istria County, as an area where the waste management system had been completed in full. This year also saw the completion of the large project for the remediation and closing of Poreč landfill Košambra, so that all residual waste is now transported to the Waste Management Centre Kaštijun. “After all citizens of Poreč have been supplied with the necessary containers, I’m expecting that the rate of separately collected waste will grow even more, and that Kaštijun will receive only that part of waste which cannot be processed or recycled,” said Director Kukić, praising the efforts that Poreč and the utility company had been making regarding sustainable waste management.
