Ekoplus receives HRK 5.6m from the Fund for the disposal of RDF

27.11.2020.

“Being aware of certain difficulties faced by our two waste management centres, Marišćina and Kaštijun, caused by unfavourable circumstances regarding the placement of RDF, the Fund approved co-financing  to both centres in the amount of HRK 5.6 million that will be used for these purposes until the end of 2021,” said the director of the Fund, Siniša Kukić.

The issue of unfavourable conditions for the placement of RDF is the result of China’s ban on waste import, due to which there has been a plunge in the export of recycling plastics and paper, which indirectly caused an increase in the price to be paid for this by Ekoplus.

“As outgoing director, I am glad to have signed this agreement, for which I have been campaigning for over a year, and which is an important step in solving the disturbances that affect the entire waste disposal system. With HRK 5.6 million, the Fund will participate in covering part of the increased cost of RDF disposal, and Ekoplus will concede this grant to the municipal companies, so that its benefits can transfer to the citizens. It will require a lot of joint efforts to bring the overall waste disposal system to the desired level. I would like to thank the Fund and the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, confirming their role as partners ready to help us on this path,” said Mr. Šarac.
