23.08.2024.

A working meeting on waste management was held in Istria County, after which the minister of environmental protection and green transition, Marija Vučković, and the director of the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund, Luka Balen, in the presence of the Istrian County prefect Boris Miletić, presented eight contracts for co-financing.

"With these contracts, we are supporting the efforts made in Istria County that are consistent with sustainable development, environmental and nature protection, and promoting separate waste collection," said minister Vučković. She also announced e-consultations for the upcoming call under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, which will contribute to increasing the recycling rate of construction waste, biowaste and plastics, as well as to improving the waste management system.

The director of the Fund expressed his satisfaction with the fact that Istrian local units recognised the Fund's calls and successfully applied their projects. "These projects are worth about 230,000 euros, of which the Fund has provided 106 thousand in grants. Their value is reflected mainly in the fact that they will facilitate the achievement of goals in the field of waste management, with an emphasis on education and motivation of citizens, which is also extremely important," said Balen.

This has been recognised by numerous local units that have applied to the Fund's Public Call for co-financing educational and information activities.
