Recycling yard in Velika Ludina opened

05.03.2019.

The citizens of Velika Ludina will be able to take some of their waste to the newly built recycling yard that has been officially put into operation today. The investment is worth HRK 2.3 million, of which 85% was secured from EU funds. “Continuous improvement of the required infrastructure for waste management is of the utmost importance for the entire country”, said the director of the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund, Dubravko Ponoš.

The recycling yard takes up the area of 3815 square meters and accommodates 24 containers for separate collection and temporary storage of waste. The drainage system has been built, as well as the new lighting system in order to ensure better quality access, and this year it is also planned to construct the new access road.

“Along with the waste disposal system in the area of Kutina, Popovača and Ludina, managed by our joint utility company Eko Moslavina, and separation of waste at source, in this recycling yard we will now have the option to dispose of as many as 35 fractions of different types of waste, in a quality manner. Behind the yard is a plot of land where we are planning to build one part for the disposal of bulky construction waste, with the aim of preventing illegal dumpsites“, said Mr. Pavlović.

Director of the Fund, Dubravko Ponoš, pointed out that the project, from the preparation phase up to the final execution, had been implemented impeccably. Credits go to the Municipality, as well as to the County Development Agency SIMORA, because having well-prepared projects is vital. Director Ponoš added that it was also important to provide continuous education to the citizens, who have to be stimulated and motivated to properly use the available utility infrastructure.

Ivo Žinić, head of Sisak-Moslavina County congratulated all on the successful implementation of the project. “This is one of the first recycling yards in our county. We have similar yards in Municipality Lipovljani and in the town of Popovača. This is the third such project financed from EU funds. It is very important for the preservation of nature and the environment, and for education as well, so that we can teach our citizens that they have to separate the waste, which is created in every home and holding, and return it to the production process in the form of raw material”, said Mr. Žinić.
