“The aim of these activities is to encourage the children and the young to discover the value of old and discarded items in a fun and interesting way and to reuse them, thus reducing waste. The students who show particular creativeness and effort will be awarded prizes,” said project manager Sunčana Matić, inviting all schools to join this competition.
The competition is just one of the activities in the process of establishing an integrated waste management system in Croatia, aimed at educating schoolchildren about the importance of preserving the nature, recycling, and proper handling of waste.
“In a way, this is a follow-up on last year’s educational campaign “Even without paper decoration, a gift will fill your heart and imagination”, which was aimed at offering a different, original way to decorate presents, while reducing the use of cardboard and wrapping paper,” said Mrs Matić.
So this Christmas do something nice for others and for the nature… Create a gift that will bring joy to your loved ones, and give a new lease of life to an old or discarded object.
