Signed the Construction Contract for WMC Biljane Donje worth HRK 368.5 million

09.04.2019.

The contract is worth HRK 368.5 million, of which 70.6% is financed from the European Cohesion Fund, while the remaining finances will be provided by the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund, Zadar County, and units of local self-government in the area.

“The preparation of this project was extremely challenging, including the preparation of extensive documentation to apply for EU co-financing, and the public procurement procedure. That is why all those dedicated people who worked on this for years deserve praise. The Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund will continue its active participation, and providing both financial and professional assistance to have the centre built in the set time limit,” commented Mr. Ponoš.

The centre will cover the area of 46 hectares, and it will consist of the plant with the best available technology with the annual MBT capacity of 88 thousand tonnes of waste. The works are planned to be completed in the second half of 2022. The director of the company “Eko”, Dino Perović, reminded that along with today’s construction contract, the PR contract worth HRK 1.9 million had already been signed, as well as the technical assistance agreement worth HRK 5.1 million, the supervision contract worth HRK 5.6 million, while the mobile equipment contract worth HRK 50 million is pending signature.

“We are on the right path of efficient waste management, with waste management centres being the final phase of establishing this system. We still need to work on the key element – separation of waste at source, because in 2017 it amounted to only 28 percent. Environmental protection and keeping Croatia neat are paramount,” said Minister Tomislav Ćorić.
