Since early morning citizens cueing in a bid for incentives for the purchase of e-vehicles

03.04.2019.

This morning, in less than 60 minutes the registration office of the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund received more than 300 applications for the co-financing of electric vehicles. The citizens have been cueing since early morning, and similar situation has been reported in post offices.

“Such interest of the citizens was expected, and I believe it is positive that we are getting more familiar with electric vehicles, and are willing to drive them. My colleagues are working hard to enter the data as soon as possible so that we could get accurate information about the amounts and types of vehicles applied for,” said Director of the Fund, Dubravko Ponoš, upon the opening of the Public Call. “This programme for co-financing electric vehicles to the citizens will be followed by the programme for the companies and units of local self-government, as well as the programme for the projects of installation of EV charging stations, so that the entire system will be organised in the best way possible.” added Ponoš.

After last year, HRK 12 million were granted to the citizens for electric vehicles in a matter of hours, with e-vehicles including not only cars, but also electric bicycles, motorcycles and mopeds, today the Fund published a new Pubic Call. This time, HRK 17 million are available to the citizens, while the Call had been announced earlier together with the application form, so that the citizens had the time to prepare. For the purchase of eco-vehicles, the citizens can get up to 40% of the amount, i.e. from 5 to 80 thousand kunas, depending on the category of e-vehicle they purchase.

The application procedure is simple – the filled out and signed application form, electronic form, a copy of the ID card, technical specifications of the vehicle, and the offer of the dealer  have to be put in an envelope and sent to the Fund by post or delivered. The applications will be reviewed chronologically according to the date and time of receipt, noting that in the case of applications sent by post, the relevant time is the time of handing over at the post office, not the time of receipt by the Fund. “In this way, we wanted to provide equal conditions for everyone in Croatia.” Pointed out Ponoš, adding that the same principle applies to all calls invited by the Fund. “Last year we co-financed the purchase of around 400 electric vehicles, bicycles, motorcycles, and plug-in electric vehicles. These are just baby steps that will steadily, but surely change the means of transport in Croatia, since the average age of a vehicle is 13 years! Our goal is to provide incentives to the citizens that will facilitate their decision to buy a new, electric vehicle, which has a much smaller negative impact on the environment.” concluded the director of the Fund.
