Six kindergartens in Split-Dalmatia County set out on project to reduce biowaste generation thanks to a grant from the Fund

Contracts for co-financing the purchase of devices for the prevention of biowaste were handed over to the headteachers of kindergartens in Split-Dalmatia County. The contracts for the allocation of almost 89 thousand euros in grants aimed at preventing food waste were handed over by the minister of environmental protection and energy  transition Marija Vučković and the director of the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund Luka Balen in the ceremony attended by the prefect of Split-Dalmatia County Blaženko Boban, and Danijel Marušić, prefect of Brod-Posavina County and president of the Croatian Association of Counties.
 
Minister Vučković stated: "The handing over of contracts to co-finance the purchase of food waste prevention devices in kindergartens is a step towards a sustainable future. This is not just an investment in pieces of equipment, this is an investment in the future - in our children and their awareness of nature conservation, in environmental protection and sustainable development. Congratulations to all users!".
 
Six kindergartens in Split-Dalmatia County qualified for co-financing, four from Split ("Cvit Mediterana", "Marjan", "Grigor Vitez", "Radost"), kindergarten "Cvrčak" from Solin, and kindergarten "Trilj" from Trilj. The total value of the investment for these six kindergartens is EUR 254,375, while the part co-financed by the Fund is EUR 88,950. 

"This is part of a total of 15 similar projects for kindergartens, to which we have allocated a total of about 200,000 euros under the Fund's public call. So far, through our other public calls, we have co-financed the purchase of about one hundred devices with the aim of reducing food waste, which, in addition to kindergartens, have also been purchased for student dorms, retirement homes, hospitals, and hotels," said Luka Balen, director of the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund.

Minister Vučković and director Balen congratulated all headteachers on their efforts, announcing that projects aimed at preventing food waste will continue to be implemented in the upcoming period.
