Study visit of Kosovo Energy Efficiency Fund

19.06.2024.

As part of their study trip, the Kosovo Energy Efficiency Fund (KEEF) visited the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund.

The delegation from Kosovo consisted of ten people - the representatives of KEEF, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning, and the Association of Municipalities of Kosovo and GIZ Kosovo.

"We are glad that the Fund has been recognized as an institution that can help your Fund through examples of good practice with our experience in the implementation of energy efficiency projects. We are happy to share our knowledge and experience with others and we are at your disposal, and we also hope that the information you receive will be useful in your future work", said Mirko Budiša, deputy director of the Fund, in his introductory address.
"In our desire to learn as much as possible from your experience, especially about the Fund’s activities regarding the implementation of public calls, the main steps of the process from initiation, implementation, monitoring, energy savings checks and more, we organised a study visit of the Kosovo delegation to the Fund. We are also interested in all the challenges you are facing," said Driton Hetemi, director of the Kosovo Fund.
"The Fund was established in late 2003 as an extra-budgetary institution with the aim of co-financing environmental protection and energy efficiency projects. With Croatia's accession to the European Union, the Fund has acquired a dual role, on the one hand as a provider of technical assistance to those interested in energy renovation projects of private and public buildings, and on the other hand as Intermediate Body Level 2, an evaluation body for these projects," explained the head of the Energy Efficiency Sector, Maja Rajčić.

At the meeting, the Fund’s co-financing programmes and the results achieved were presented, with the emphasis being put on the area that was most interesting to visitors - energy renovation of family houses and apartment or public buildings. The Kosovo delegation was interested in the methods of financing, energy performance audits, goal-oriented inter-institutional cooperation, the promotion of sustainability and the reduction of energy consumption.

The meeting was an excellent opportunity to exchange experiences and share information, many of which will be useful to the representatives of the Kosovo Fund, and close cooperation will continue in the future.
