01.09.2018.

Mayor of the City of Dubrovnik Mato Franković, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction Predrag Štromar, and Director of the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund Dubravko Ponoš signed Grant Agreements for the financing of energy renovation of the kindergartens “Ciciban” and “Izviđač” from EU funds, amounting in total to HRK 1.5 million. On this occasion, the vice president of the Croatian Government Mr. Štromar presented mayor Franković with the decisions on the award of the additional 3 million kuna that will be used to co-finance energy renovation of primary schools Ivan Gundulić and Marin Držić.

“On behalf of the City of Dubrovnik, I would like to thank Deputy Prime Minister and Director of the Fund. This is a follow-up of the cooperation in energy renovation projects that is already in under way, and we shall continue to absorb EU funding to improve energy performance of public buildings”, said mayor Franković.

“The City of Dubrovnik applied two kindergartens and two schools to the tender. The total amount approved is HRK 4.5 million, and in order to reach financial close as soon as possible, and to bridge the financing gap to full investment, Dubrovnik can apply to other funds, primarily to the fund for regional development”, explained Deputy Prime Minister Štromar, adding that the return on investment will be visible very soon through savings that will be achieved after the renovation.

“The resources that will be allocated for energy efficiency in the Republic of Croatia are three times greater than the originally planned, i.e. they exceed 1 billion kuna. We have discussed it with the local self-government authorities and we published the public call accordingly. I believe that there will be even more applicants to the upcoming call for energy renovation of public buildings that will start next week, and not only from the city of Dubrovnik, but the entire Dubrovnik-Neretva County”, said Dubravko Ponoš, the director of the Fund.
