The Fund donates power tools to firefighters

30.03.2020.

Due to a strong earthquake that hit Zagreb on 22 March, unfortunately many buildings were devastated, especially in the old part of the town, and in the area of Markuševac. In order to facilitate easier and faster removal of the demolished parts, the Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund donated the required construction equipment to the Zagreb Fire Brigade. These include pneumatic drills (jackhammers) that will be used for urgent repairs of the most hazardous damage to improve the safety of the citizens, construction workers, as well as the stability of the surrounding buildings.

The Fund also commended the Zagreb firefighters who, in the circumstances that left many citizens without their homes, while downtown lost many of its characteristic features, once again demonstrated their professionalism and prompt reaction. The Fund is planning to undertake additional measures and programmes to help those who need it the most in this situation.

“We are continuously in contact with the responsible ministries, regarding both the quake and the coronavirus pandemic. We are confident that with joint forces we will be able to provide financial help to the citizens, and that these unprecedented circumstances will give way to normal life. This also means that our planned programmes will be launched with a slight delay”, said Siniša Kukić, the director of the Fund.
